After nearly one month of baseball in 2024, Spring Training is coming to an end and one of the top free agents going into the 2023-2024 MLB off season still remains unsigned.
Blake Snell had a tremendous season in 2023 for the San Diego Padres, going 14-9 throughout 32 games with a 2.25 ERA. These stats are a reason why the BBWAA (Baseball Writers’ Association of America) selected him as the 2023 National League Cy Young Award Winner. Over Snell’s career, he has posted a 3.20 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP.
Over the course of the 2023 MLB off-season, Snell was linked to multiple teams including the San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees, & the Los Angeles Angels. The Yankees had reportedly offered Snell a contract but he declined it. However, a new team has appeared in talks to sign Blake Snell. The Houston Astros have apparently been interested in signing the 2023 NL Cy Young Award Winner. One thing may be preventing Houston from inking a deal with the southpaw however, Snell has reportedly been seeking a 2-year, $66 million deal.
As Opening Day nears, the San Francisco Giants along the newest team in the mix, the Houston Astros are favorites to sign Blake Snell. Who do you think Blake Snell will sign with???
To me? It won't be LAD, but with how the rumors have been going over the last few weeks, does Andrew Friedman have a chance? Yes. https://heavy.com/sports/mlb/los-angeles-dodgers/blake-snell-free-agent-deal-rumors/. https://www.si.com/mlb/dodgers/news/blake-snell-rumors-dodgers-potential-free-agent-target-sets-his-asking-price-tag-ml0802.
