June Begins With A First Look At The Future of Baseball
3 Top Prospects Called Up in the First 10 Days of June
Last season, we saw top prospects in Jackson Holliday, Paul Skenes, Jackson Chourio, & Wyatt Langford make their MLB debuts and become some of the top young talent in the Major Leagues.
This season, we’ve seen Kristian Campbell, Nick Kurtz, Dalton Rushing & Roki Sasaki make their MLB debuts. However, the month of June has brought us the big league debut of 3 top prospects throughout the league.
Jac Caglianone | 1B/OF | MLB #10 Prospect
Jac Caglianone, the college phenom who was drafted 6th overall by the Kansas City Royals, joined Nick Kurtz of the Athletics as the only players from the 2024 draft to make their big league debut. Going from college to the major leagues in less than a year is a huge accomplishment, and you must have a great amount of success in the minors to do so. Caglianone didn’t just have success; he dominated outright.
Jac started his pro baseball career with Kansas City’s High A affiliate, the Quad City River Bandits. In 29 games last season, Caglianone had a slow start, hitting .241 with only 2 homeruns. However, the slugging first baseman hit 3 homeruns and posted a 1.871 OPS in 17 at-bats in his first career Spring Training, leading to him starting the season in AA Northwest Arkansas. In 38 games for the Travelers, Jac hit .322 with a .947 OPS and 9 homeruns, leading to 43 RBIs. With his dominance of the Texas League, Caglianone was in AAA Omaha on May 20th. In 12 games with the Omaha Storm Chasers, Caglianone hit 6 homeruns with a .370 BA & a 1.093 OPS.
With his pure dominance, Caglianone was called up to the big league, and he made his MLB debut on June 3rd at Busch Stadium against Kansas City’s state rival, the St. Louis Cardinals.
Kyle Teel | C | MLB #25 Prospect
Kyle Teel, the former 14th overall pick who was shipped to the Southside of Chicago in the Garrett Crochet trade this past offseason, was recently called up to help the struggling White Sox roster. In 2 seasons with the Boston Red Sox organization, Teel hit .325/.434/.898 with a total of 15 home runs and 100 RBIs.
In his first season as a member of the Chicago White Sox, Teel started in AAA Charlotte, hitting .295 with a .886 OPS, 8 HRs, & 30 RBIs in 50 games. On June 6th, the White Sox made the call and brought their #1 Prospect up to the big league club for his MLB Debut.
Roman Anthony | OF | MLB #1 Prospect
Last year, we saw the #1 Prospect in baseball at the time, Jackson Holliday of the Orioles, make his big league debut. Recently, the new #1 prospect in baseball, Roman Anthony of the Boston Red Sox, made his big league debut.
Anthony, who was drafted 79th overall by Boston in 2022, started his professional baseball career between rookie ball and Single-A in 2022, where he hit .306 with 0 homeruns and 12 runs batted in. The following year, Anthony made it as far as AA Portland, and he hit a combined .272 with a .869 OPS and had a total of 14 homeruns/64 RBIs on the year. After a great spring, the sluggling outfielder started the 2025 season in AAA Worchester, where he hit .288/.423/.914 with 10 homeruns, 29 RBIs, and a total of 61 hits in 58 games before being called up for his MLB debut on June 9th.
The Royals don't really have a history of big home run guys. I hope Caglianone can change that.
