Leaked City Connect Uniform Unveiled | Part 1: San Francisco
1 of 4 City Connect Uniforms That Have Been Leaked Recently Unveiled
Welcome to the first of four posts in a short series here at Baseball ‘Caps! In this series, we will discuss the four MLB uniforms that have recently been leaked and look back to discuss the uniform after its on-field debut.
March 26th: Potential Jersey Leaked
A day before Opening Day, images of what was likely the Giants’ newest City Connect Uniform surfaced online. The image displayed the jersey which was being held up by a person near what looked like an outside structure.
In the image, we can easily see the details of the front of the jersey, including the wordmark, the wave-like lines, and the jersey’s color scheme.
April 8th: Uniform Unvield
On April 8th, the San Francisco Giants officially unveiled their new City Connect uniform, confirming the earlier leak.
This uniform is heavily inspired by the music of San Francisco, which gives it many unique features. The jersey and pants both have a charcoal base with gray wave-like lines running down the jersey, which serve as pinstripes but represent sound waves along with the grooves on a vinyl record, both nods to music.
The wordmark reads "Giants” across the front in a curvy wordmark that features a double outline of black and a gradient. This gradient can also be found on the sleeves of the jersey, the piping of the pants, and the brim of the hat, and features orange, one of San Francisco’s main colors, and purple, which is a nod to the New York Giants, as they wore violet in the 1910s.
The hat features a black base with a play on the Giants’ interlocking SF logo, which uses the same font as the wordmark. The bill, the outline of the logo, the New Era logo, the MLB logo, and the top button of the hat all use the gradient design.
On the sleeve of the jersey is a brand new patch design of a baseball glove, a nod to the iconic glove statue in left field of Oracle Park in San Francisco. However, to match the theme of the uniform, the glove has the same gradient design used throughout the uniform, along with some other details that give it ”hippie” vibes.
For the pants of the uniform, the Giants will wear plain white pants with of course, the gradient down the piping of the pants.
Overall, these uniforms are a big upgrade from their previous City Connects, featuring a pop of orange and purple on the black base of the uniform that connects the music and culture of the Bay Area to San Francisco’s historic baseball team.
