After 15 years in the big leagues, Andrew McCutchen hit his 300th career home run on April 14th, 2024 at Citizens Bank Park in South Philly.
Andrew McCutchen was drafted with the eleventh overall pick in the 2005 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates. McCutchen quickly became a fan favorite in Steel City and played for the Bucs until 2018 when the Pirates traded McCutchen to the San Francisco Giants. Later that same season, San Francisco traded McCutchen to the New York Yankees before his contract ended at the end of the 2018 season. After becoming a free agent for the first time ever in his career, Andrew McCutchen signed a three-year, $50 million deal with the Philadelphia Phillies. From 2019-2021, McCutchen faced many injuries but played well with Philadelphia while becoming a fan favorite. At the end of “Cutch”’s three year deal, he signed a one year deal with the Milwaukee Brewers for the 2022 MLB season. After yet again becoming a free agent, Andrew McCutchen signed with the team who originally drafted him, the Pittsburgh Pirates. McCutchen had already became a Pittsburgh hero & fan favorite, however, after signing with the Pirates yet again, Andrew McCutchen became a Pittsburgh legend.
A career .275/.369/.834 hitter, McCutchen won the 2012 NL Gold Glove Award as well as winning the 2013 NL MVP. McCutchen also won the NL Silver Slugger Award 4 years in a row (2012-2015) & was elected to the National League All-Star team 5 straight years (2011-2015). On June 11th, 2023, Andrew McCutchen hit his 2000 career hit in front of the city of Pittsburgh. With so many incredible accomplishments in his career, Andrew McCutchen added the cherry on top on April 14th, 2024 when he hit his 300th career home run at Citizens Bank Park against his former team, the Philadelphia Phillies.
