NYM Unveils City Connect Uniforms

The New York Mets will wear their new Nike City Connect uniforms for the first time on Saturday, April 27, 2024 vs STL at Citi Field in Queens. New York unveiled their City Connect uniforms on April 19, 2024, stating “IYK NY YK”* as their City Connect motto. After releasing their new uniforms, the Mets became the 22nd team in Major League Baseball to have a City Connect uniform & joining their rivals, the Philadelphia Phillies as the second team to unveil a City Connect uniform in 2024.

According to MLB.com, “The Nike MLB City Connect Series celebrates the deep-rooted history, culture and spirit of each city that continues to bring the clubs and their communities together.” New York City, being one of the biggest cities in the world & also being home to the New York Mets, along with the New York Yankees is one city that has certainly been waiting for a City Connect uniform. However, these may be the only City Connect Uniforms NYC gets in the near future as the New York Yankees have opted to not have a City Connect uniform.
Along with every other Nike City Connect Uniform, the the New York Mets’ City Connect Uniforms have many hidden features too.

Special pattern with circles & diamonds for the subway sign shapes across NYC
Bridge pattern across the uniform that symbolizes the Queensboro Bridge
“Token” sleeve patch that represents the tokens that were used to ride the subway.
Purple colored logo/uniform colors that represent the purple subway signs that go around Citi Field, home of the New York Mets

As many of you may also know, the Philadelphia Phillies’ City Connect Uniforms had been “leaked” on eBay during the 2023-2024 off-season. Many thought this was just a fake uniform that was released. However, this uniform ended up being Philly’s real City Connect uniform. Then, soon after the Phillies came out with their City Conenct uniforms, there was a potential leak of the Mets’ City Connect uniforms. Unsurprisingly, these leaked uniforms ended up being the Mets’ actual City Connect uniforms too.
