Reviewing 3 Special Event Hats of 2024

Happy National Hat Day! Each year, thousands of people around the world celebrate hats on January 15th, so, today we are going to rank some of the special event themed hats from the 2024 MLB season.

3. 2024 MLB All-Star Game Hats

The 2024 MLB All-Star Game was in Arlington, Texas this year, with the 2023 World Series Champion Texas Rangers hosting every event throughout the week. As a result, Nike designed the uniforms to fit Texas’’ western style & pay tribute to the first All-Star Game uniforms, worn in 1933. To match with the jerseys, the hats for the All-Star Game this past season were tan & pink (salmon) for the American League & bright blue + navy for the National League (with pink (NL) & blue (AL) mixed into the hats for small details). The cap had the logo of the respective team for the player whom the hat belonged to in the same color scheme. In addition, the hat had a star with 2 differently colored lines going across the front of the cap horizontally, which went right through the team’s logo. Lastly, the 2024 All-Star Game Logo patch on the side of the cap.

When fans saw this hat, there were mixed opinions, some hated the hat along with the entire uniform set while some approved of it. However, the majority of fans did not like these hats, as they were non-traditional and the colors were very different, rather than the usual ASG hats that usually use the host team’s colors. Along with many fans, I also think that the hats used in the Home Run Derby, which used the same design but used the colors of whichever team’s hat is was were much better.

2. Stars & Stripes Independence Day Hat

Since 2002, Major League Baseball has had special hats themed around Independence Day for teams to wear on the 4th of July, and this didn’t change in 2024. Rather than making the entire hat red, white, and blue like previous years Major League Baseball went with a similar, cleaner look this past season, making the base of the hat light grey with a red or navy bill, depending on the team’s primary colors. For the logo, the team’s logo was outlined in a dark navy blue and filled with the American flag. On the side of the cap, was a patch with the logo of the team’s respective league, either the American League or the National League.

Overall, these hats have a simple but clean design, which highlights the colors you would see around July 4th, while not making it super messy & complicated.

1. Armed Forces Day

The 2023 Armed Forces Day hats were a very successful design and were very popular throughout the league, which made it especially difficult for New Era to create a better hat. However, NE did not disappoint this year, giving us a great design, a black hat with the team’s logo in a digital camo design, made up of military green, tan, olive green. On the left and right of the logo were 3 yellow stars, creating a circle around the logo. On the right side of the hat, was a special design featuring baseball bats and lightning bolts along with an American flag within the shape of home plate.

All together, these hats are very clean, showing support to our military and troops. These hats, were a great design, with the team logo popping out on the black base with the bright yellow stars highlighting the logo.
