The Chicago White Sox are one of MLB’s most disappointing teams, and before Tuesday night, the White Sox hadn’t won a game in almost a month. On July 10th, the White Sox defeated the Minnesota Twins by a score of 3-1. However, little would anyone know, this would be the White Sox’s last win in 27 days. After losing 21 straight games, the Chicago White Sox finally defeated the Oakland Athletics by a score of 5-1— 27 days after their victory over the Twins.
The 21-game losing streak tied for longest in American League History & 2nd in MLB history with the 1988 Baltimore Orioles. The 21-game streak was 2 losses away from tying the 1961 Philadelphia Phillies for the longest losing streak in Major League Baseball history. (Info From: Sarah Langs, mlb.com)
To show how incredibly bad this White Sox team is, through 116 games in the MLB season, the Sox are 28-88 (.241) The worst season in modern era of baseball is held by the Philadelphia Athletics (now the Oakland Athletics & soon the Las Vegas A’s) who went 36 - 117 (.235). Although it is very close, the White Sox have been playing absolutely brutal baseball & I would not be surprised if they finish the year with less than 36 wins.
