Do You Think Shohei Ohtani Was Involved In the Sports Betting Situation?
If you don’t know already, Shohei Ohtani is considered by many to be the best player in the MLB right now. Some people think he is the best baseball player off all time. You may ask, why do people think he’s so good. Well, that’s simple- Ohtani is one of the first players ever to be able to throw a 100-mph pitch and then go hit a 400-ft home run. Being the only player since the early 1900s to be able to pitch & hit tremendously at the Major League level, Ohtani certainly is good at baseball. However, during the Seoul Series, Ohtani’s long-time interpreter & best friend Ippei Mizuhara was fired by the Los Angeles Dodgers, Ohtani’s team because of involvement in sports betting. Then after many conspiracies, it was revealed that Mizuhara had been taking money out of Ohtani’s bank account to pay off his debt. Then, on April 11, 2024, United States federal prosecutors announced that they had discovered that Ippei Mizuhara had stolen around $16 million from Ohtani and would be charged with bank fraud, a felony in the United States that has a maximum sentence in federal prison of 30 years.
