As the trade deadline nears, we have already seen some great trades happen; Randy Arozarena to the Mariners, Austin Hays to the Phillies, & Zach Eflin to the Orioles.
Will These Players Actually Be Traded?
Every year there are speculations of players who could be traded. This year we have seen thoughts of Bo Bichette & Vladimir Guerrero Jr being traded away from the Blue Jays, Pete Alonso being traded out off Queens, or even the Rangers trading playoff hero Adolis Garcia. So, will these players actually be traded? Today, I will be answering the question myself as well as you, the readers getting to show your thoughts in this edition of Survey Saturday.
Will the Blue Jays Trade Bichette & Guerrero?
Many people have considered that the Blue Jays would sell this deadline and with that trade away their star players in Vladimir Guerrero Jr. & Bo Bichette. As of July 27, Toronto sits at the bottom of the American League East with a 48—56 record. Considering they have already traded multiple players in the past few days, it would be no surprise if Toronto trades Vlad Guerrero Jr before Tuesday’s deadline; however, with Bo Bichette being placed on the injured list with a right calf strain, the possibilities of a team trading for Bichette are now very slim. Nevertheless, I would not be surprised if Toronto makes a move that sends Vladimir Guerrero Jr. out of Toronto.
Will The Tigers Trade Tarik Skubal?
Tarik Skubal, who is the current favorite to win the American League Cy Young Award, has been linked to many teams in trade proposals in recent weeks, however, will the Detroit Tigers actually trade him? Although Detroit has not been very good this season, I think this is a very difficult question to answer. Are the Tigers going to hope they can keep Skubal around in hopes they can make a deep run into the playoffs in coming years or do they think they can trade him off for good pieces to help them get to the playoffs? If I really have to answer the question though, I do think Skubal will be moved at the deadline as long as Detroit can get multiple good prospects in return. Although I do think Skubal could be traded, many people have noted that the Orioles could trade MLB’s No. 1 overall prospect, Jackson Holliday for Skubal, however I do not think that will happen.
